Hereford

Sitting on a loop of the River Wye, Hereford is right at the heart of the county.

A record-breaking city

Hereford’s golden-stone cathedral is a huge draw for visitors and home to two record-breakers - the Mappa Mundi, the largest surviving medieval map of the world – made about 800 years ago, and the biggest chained library on the plant!

There’s plenty more to enjoy whilst wandering among half-timbered houses, including independent shops or the transformed Old Market which offers shopping, dining, and a cinema.

Want something a little more idyllic, then a stroll along the Wye sounds right up your street.
