The pawfect holiday

02 September 2020

For many of us a holiday just isn’t a holiday without our dog.

It comes as no surprise to us that two-thirds of Britons take their pets away with them after all they are a part of the family and it can often feel like something is missing when we holiday without our pooches.

The UK is a nation of dog lovers and there are a whole host of dog friendly locations and activities for you and your dog to get excited about. Willerby’s very own four-legged friends Lyla and Ruby love to travel; whether this is lazing in the Lakes, bounding on a beach or walking in Wales our girls love a holiday away

Lyla and Ruby take us through their favourite holiday destinations in the UK.

The New Forest
With so much open space to enjoy, your pooch will love exploring the New Forest. Over 140 miles of tracks through woodland, by sea, over heath or by rivers and streams you’ll have plenty of places to explore. At the end of the day, you can kick back and relax in one of the many dog-friendly pubs.

Norfolk
If your pooch enjoys stretching their legs and running across a beach, then look no further than Norfolk. Over 80 miles of unspoilt coastline play host to some of the most amazing beaches meaning there is an abundance of space for your dog to run and paly. Nearly all of the beaches in Norfolk are dog friendly and well worth an explore.

Our top picks are Brancaster, Holkham and Wells-next-the-Sea.

Anglesey
A dog lover’s paradise and one of our favourite destinations, this enchanting island off the north-west coast of Wales has some of the most breathtaking coastline for you and your dog to explore.

Our favourite beach to explore is Cemlyn Bay, it is the perfect place to do swimming or hiking with your pooch.

The Lake District
One of the most popular – and beautiful – places to visit and holiday in the United Kingdom is also a fantastic place to bring your pooch. Now declared a Unesco World Heritage Site the much-cherished part of the UK is home to some truly wonderful landscapes and there are countless dog-friendly walks, pubs, restaurants, and attractions in the area.

You must pay a visit to Mabel & Mu in Windermere to pick up some delicious treats and some stylish accessories for your four legged friends.

The Highlands
The Highlands offer an ideal location for you and your pooch to explore. Loch, glen or mountain; there are incredible walks for everyone across beaches, wild countries and woodland walks they have everything, from those looking for a gentle stroll to hardcore hikers.
