spoil your pets

19 April 2020

Have you read the story of the sausage dog who sprained his tail after wagging it too much because he was delighted his owners were at home so much during lockdown? Or perhaps you've noticed your cat spending more time outdoors now, as she can't quite get used to sharing the house all day?

Whatever we're going through now, the effects are also being felt by our four-legged friends. And whilst there's a lots of tips about self-care and ways to keep ourselves busy and entertained, we need to remember to treat our beloved pets too. Here's a couple of ideas from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home that will also give you something to do during this time of social distancing.

  1. Make your pet a new toy from recycled old materials

Battersea have created a number of step-by-step videos on how to create new toys for our fur babies, from recycled household items. Our favourite is the Octopus Ragger, but they have a few options on their homepage at battersea.org.uk

  1. Celebrate their special day with a cat or dog birthday cake (or just treat them anyway).

In their new series of 'Made In Battersea' baking specials, the team at Battersea have already released both a cat and dog birthday cake on their Instagram page. The plan is that they'll release a new recipe every Thursday, so keep your eyes peeled for more tasty treats you can cook up for your pets.
