Easter fun - activities you can enjoy at home

05 April 2020

We’re all adapting to life under lockdown and finding new ways to do things; like staying in touch with our family and friends via video call or changing up recipes to work with the ingredients we have at home.

This Easter will definitely be a strange one, with limits placed on where we can go and what we can do, but that doesn’t mean it has to be any less fun. Here’s some ideas of things (all free of charge) you can do with the kids over the weekend (or without them - who says adults can’t have fun too?!)

- Cadbury’s Hide & Find - whilst traditional outdoor Easter egg hunts have been cancelled around the country, Cadbury have created a brand new way to create your own family Easter egg hunt online. Head to hideandfind.cadbury.co.uk to sign up and create your hunt.

- Chester Zoo’s virtual zoo day - for the last two Fridays, Chester Zoo has opened it’s virtual gates at 10am for a live tour of the zoo, and we’re really hoping they do it again on Good Friday! We’ve already visited the giraffes, red pandas, frogs and meerkats but with over 500 species at the zoo, there’s still lots more to see. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates and announcements - you can also watch the past tours here too.

  • Perhaps you’d prefer to take the time to learn a new skill? Peter McKee, painter and commercial artist from Sheffield, has released a number of cartoon workshops for beginners on his YouTube channel - people have been giving the sessions really great reviews!

There is of course hundreds of other things you can do - catch up on that must see Netflix series, get stuck into a good book or create a real Easter egg hunt for the kids, hiding their treats around the house and garden - don’t forget to leave one in the washing machine and create footprints using talcum powder if you have little ones!

Whatever you get up to, we hope you have a great Easter weekend. Do let us know if you try out any of the activities we’ve recommended!
