In this month’s Team Talk, we catch up with furnisher George Harrison. He joined the Willerby family in December 2016 and completed a joinery apprenticeship before choosing to specialise in his current role.

Q. Tell us about your job and what it involves.
A. I fit furniture into the holiday homes, making sure it fits perfectly and is finished to a high standard. I work from drawings, mark out where the furniture goes and put it in place before fitting it. I fit everything from bathroom suites to kitchen cupboards and everything in between.

Q. What’s the best thing about your job?
A. The lads I work with. They’re all a similar age to me and we all help each other. I’m lucky to work with great people.

Q. What does being part of the Willerby team mean to you?
A. I’m proud to work for Willerby and to be in the team I’m in. As part of my apprenticeship, I’ve worked in many different departments in the factory and I chose furnishing because I feel confident in this role. The support I’ve had from Willerby means a lot to me.

Q. If you didn’t work for Willerby and you could do any job in the world, what would it be?
A. A footballer. I’ve played football since I was a toddler and I love it, playing five-a-side with my mates and in a league at weekends.

Q. What’s your secret claim to fame?
A. When I was younger, I played with Brazilian football legend Sócrates at a soccer training camp in Hull. The local paper covered the story at the time.
