Here’s the first “Team Talk”, with Alex Halstead, VS2 exterior chargehand, who has been part of the Willerby family for almost seven years.

Q. Tell us about your job and what it involves.

A. I fit windows and doors to the holiday homes and carry out repairs to these units when needed. In my chargehand role, which I took on just before last Christmas, I direct colleagues and delegate tasks. If they have any issues, they come to me and I’m the link between my colleagues on the shop floor and management. It’s more responsibility and I enjoy it.

Q. What’s the best thing about your job?

A. I like the challenge and variety of the job and helping people grow and develop in their roles. You need the best team you can get, so I most enjoy helping them gain skills and experience.

Q. What does being part of the Willerby team mean to you?

A. I feel proud to work at Willerby. It’s one of the best jobs I’ve had and it’s a good company to work for. I plan on being here for life and I want to progress as far as I can.

Q. If you didn’t work for Willerby and you could do any job in the world, what would it be?

A. The job that earns me the most money! Actually, I wanted to be a firefighter when I was at school. It was the typical cliché of a young boy wanting to be brave and be a hero.

Q. What’s your guilty pleasure?

A. I have crazy taste in music and I’m often judged by family and friends because of the random songs on my playlist. One minute it’s opera, the next it’s ACDC!
