‘Join the Club’ – Gill Bradley

‘I’m so proud of my Willerby Manor – it’s my home away from home’

As we continue our “Join the Club” features, we catch up with Willerby Owners Club member Gill Bradley, who owns a two bedroom Willerby Manor holiday home at The Lighthouse Holiday Park in Flamborough, East Yorkshire.

Gill, a retired midwife and National Trust volunteer from Ilkeston, Derbyshire, bought her holiday home in May this year. She has called it “Princess,” a name her late mother Muriel was known by.

Tell us about your Willerby and why you love it so much.

I viewed the 3D models on the Willerby website during lockdown and kept an eye on the Facebook page. I initially thought I’d buy a Willerby Sierra but the Manor was a great price point for the specification because it allowed me to have free standing furniture and large patio windows.

I have everything I want, I’m so happy with the quality and I spend as much time here as possible. I’m really proud of it.

Why did you choose your specific model and how long have you been part of the Willerby family?

I joined the Willerby family in May and registered for the Owners Club.

I chose this model because it’s light, airy, roomy, comfortable and modern but still traditional in appearance and includes central heating.
It has so many windows, fitted shelves and plenty of cupboard space for storage. I have a lovely balcony and I can sit outside on a nice evening.

What are the best things about owning a holiday home?

The freedom to be able to get up in a morning and decide to go to Flamborough. It’s my home away from home, I can stay for as long as I want and come and go as I please.

I get so much pleasure out of my holiday home and it’s close to Bridlington and Sewerby. I know the area well because some of my family used to live locally and I’ve spent a lot of my life in this area.

What would you say to other people thinking about buying a holiday home?

Do it! I needed to press my reset button in life because I’d been caring for my mum part-time for 16 years and it was a life-changing experience. Buying my Willerby Manor gave me a new start and a new interest. It’s much better than staying in a hotel. I love being here and I would tell anybody to do the same. It’s my favourite place to be.

Describe your holiday park and why it’s such a great place to stay

The park has been developed over the last few years. It’s nice to see investment happening which will ensure it’s lovely for many more years to come.

I wanted a quiet site near the sea and there’s a small woodland area and a fishing lake here. There are coastal and countryside walks nearby, a launderette, a small children’s play area and a clubhouse with bingo and entertainment at the weekend.

I can walk to Flamborough Head Lighthouse in 18 minutes and I watch the seals from the clifftop.

What do you most value and enjoy from being a member of the Willerby Owners Club?

I’m new to the Owners Club but I received a welcome pack including Willerby cups, playing cards and seeds.

The Owners Club will keep me informed about everything I need to know about Willerby and all the latest updates. It’s a nice community to be part of and I’m looking forward to finding out more.
