09 March 2018

Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to show your loved one just how much they mean to you. If you’re thinking of planning a romantic weekend away, we have found the top ten perfect places to visit for a truly love filled weekend.

  1. Bath, Somerset
Take a stroll around the beautifully preserved Great Roman Baths or the Royal Crescent, two of the most visited places in England. Or if you’re looking for a relaxing break, you can enjoy the rooftop spa pool at Thermae Bath Spa. For those of you into history, there’s Holburne Museum or The Museum of Bath at Work which shows how the famous Bath Stone was mined.
  2. The Lake District, Cumbria
With breath-taking scenery, a romantic walk is always a great option, whichever area you decide to visit. Or why not try something difference and rent Segways to ride through the countryside? If you’re a thrill seeker try a GoApe experience – ignite your inner dare devil! Clay pigeon shooting (plus much more!) is available with the Outdoor Adventure Company – when it’s time for lunch, there are loads of places in the Lakes serving delicious pub grub. If you’re looking for some alone time you can hire a boat through Windermere Lake Cruises and enjoy an afternoon on the open water.
  3. York, Yorkshire
An historic and extremely popular city, whether you’re taking somebody on a date or celebrating years of marriage – there’s something in York for everyone. If you love shopping, take a stroll down The Shambles, or pop to McArthurGlen to snap up some bargains. If you really want to push the boat out, you could go for an exclusive private dining package at The Deep (in nearby Hull – UK City of Culture 2017), be personally waited upon and eat amongst the sharks!
  4. Edinburgh, Scotland
Extremely popular amongst tourists, especially couples, there’s plenty to do in Edinburgh. Sail the seven seas (nearly!) with Re-Union Canal Boats - they offer smaller boats for a more intimate experience. If you’re a fan of the royal family you could visit the famous Royal Yacht Britannia – one of Scotland’s best attractions. For those who have a sweet tooth, you can visit Coco Chocolatier and experience a tasting evening for just £18, who could possibly resist that? If you haven’t heard, gin is the new UK’s top tipple so why not try a distillery day at Edinburgh Gin Distillery, get those taste buds tingling and share some special moments with your other half.
  5. Cornwall
With over 300 miles of coastline and numerous beaches, Cornwall is a stunning place. If you want to catch the sunset, the Scarlet Hotel is for adult only and offers outdoor yoga, spa treatments, steam room and clifftop hot tubs – why not throw in a bottle of prosecco too? Explore the famous Frenchman’s Creek on the Helford Estuary; a very popular honeymoon location that emanates serenity and calm. You can also visit Trebah Gardens which leads on to a private beach (perfect for a romantic picnic) – or there’s an adventure play area for those of you who want something more active!
  6. The Cotswolds
How couldn’t we include the Cotswolds in our list? Visit the sand-stoned picturesque villages with scenes only seen on postcards. Take in the sights of Stow on the Water, an ancient market town, or treat yourself to a sophisticated meal at Wild Thyme Restaurant at Chipping Norton. For an extra ounce of romance, book a night in at the Bailbrook Lodge, a charming boutique hotel specialising in romantic breaks.
    And that’s it! Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day, whatever you’re doing ?
