Team Talk with Wayne Henry

29 September 2022

As we continue our monthly Team Talk chats, we speak to Wayne Henry, erecting chargehand on Line 2.

Wayne joined us as a labourer in 2016 and was promoted to his current role last year.

Q. Tell us about your job and what it involves.

A. I look after a team of 12 and we run the day-to-day building of the holiday homes from the chassis upwards. We fit the internal walls, front, sides and roof and we’re in control of the whole shell of the homes. I make sure everyone knows what they’re doing while working as
a strong team.

Q. What’s the best thing about your job?

A. I learn something new every day. The days fly by because we’re always busy and I really enjoy it. I work with a skilled team and we help each other. If we didn’t work as a team it wouldn’t run as smoothly.

Q. What does being part of the Willerby team mean to you?

A. I love working for Willerby. It’s a great business, a big brand and it has a good reputation across the industry. The current demand for holiday homes is huge and we’ll be working very hard for the foreseeable future. We achieve a lot as a business and I’m proud to work here.

Q. If you didn’t work for Willerby and you could do any job in the world, what would it be?

A. I’d join the Royal Navy or be a pilot. I’d like to travel more and see different places and both jobs would enable me to do that.

Q. What’s your guilty pleasure?

A. I used to do a lot of weightlifting and enjoyed going to strongman competitions across the Yorkshire region. I met a lot of the famous weightlifters at the time and still follow the sport, but I had to stop lifting because I suffered a back injury.
