For our latest Team Talk feature we caught up with Colin Hookem, a wood machinist who works on the manufacture of our Willerby Bespoke park homes and lodges. He became part of the Willerby family in 1996.

Q.Tell us about your job and what it involves.
A. I run the machine shop on line 3. My role includes carrying out repairs on kitchen units, making door frames, sculpting handles and more. I sand, edge and shape materials and I’m the main point of contact in the machine shop for other teams in the factory.

Q. What’s the best thing about your job?

A. The people. There’s a lot to do but everyone is really happy and if they’re happy, I’m happy. It’s nice to work as part of such a great team and it’s a nice atmosphere.

Q. What does being part of the Willerby team mean to you?

A. I’ve been here 25 years and working here has given me stability and helped me to bring my family up, so I take my hat off to Willerby for giving me that.

Q. If you didn’t work for Willerby and you could do any job in the world, what would it be?

A. I’d like to work on a beach. I love Fuerteventura, so it would be nice for half of the year when the weather is best.

Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A. I was a football coach when my son was younger and now I’m an FA qualified referee for Saturday League girls’ football matches and Sunday League boys’ games. I’ve been involved for almost 20 years. I really enjoy it and it keeps me fit.
