Employees rewarded with opportunity to visit luxury retreat

Willerby have invested in a new luxury retreat in Ullswater Valley, which is available exclusively for our staff.

The accommodation, aptly named ‘Murphy’s Retreat’ after former Willerby managing director Bernard Murphy, gives employees the chance to stay in one of our Pinehurst lodges at Hillcroft Park, in Hillcroft, Pooley Bridge.

Bernard Murphy retired in 2018, after 15 years at Willerby. As a retirement gift, Willerby kindly offered the lodge to him and his family, as well as the staff at Willerby, to give them the chance to unwind and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the Lake District, while also testing and benefitting from the facilities within the lodge.

The site boasts a selection of amenities including a children’s play area, and beautiful nature walks, as well as attractions such as the Rheged Centre, Lowther Castle and Ullswater Steamer closeby.

Bernard said: “This scheme is something I am very passionate about, and I truly believe in rewarding the hardworking staff at Willerby.

“Holidays will be allocated to staff and their families on a random selection basis, with a maximum of two stays a year. We’re looking forward to welcoming staff to the retreat to relax, unwind and ultimately test and try the holiday home, providing essential feedback.”

Mike Sharp, Supply Manager at Willerby added: “Staying in the lodge has been a fantastic experience. We all found it so relaxing, and it was the perfect place to unwind and recharge our batteries, as both the lodge and its surroundings are stunning.
