Willerby supports Parkdean to offer breaks to families fighting cancer

Willerby has recently supplied one of our wheelchair friendly holiday homes, sited at Southview holiday park in Skegness, to allow families with child cancer patients to enjoy a 7-day holiday without worrying about the financial burden.

Parkdean Resorts, who own 67 holiday parks stretching across the UK, announced their support for charity Team Margot Foundation, in early 2020; and despite fundraising activities not quite able to take place as planned, raised over £22,000 for the charity, including £9,665 for the through their #MilesforMargot campaign alone.

Team Margot Foundation campaigns for every individual who is eligible, particularly those of mixed heritage, to register as blood, organ, stem cell and bone marrow donors. The charity was formed after 14-month-old Margot Martini was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of blood cancer, and required a bone marrow transplant to stand the best chance of survival.

This month, Willerby worked with Parkdean Resorts to create a very special package for families that are supported by Team Margot. By supplying a home to be located on one of Parkdean Resorts holiday parks, Team Margot have been able to offer complimentary, 7-day holidays to families with child cancer patients. Each family is gifted restaurant vouchers, entertainment passes and a VIP package on arrival, to make that much needed break, extra special.

The families who have benefited so far have sent in their thanks and appreciation for the opportunity to spend quality time together as a family.

One grateful family said “We have arrived back home and have had the most wonderful time together as a family.

It has been a difficult year for our family, with continuous hospital stays and visits, so to get some time away from it all and spend quality time together has been wonderful.

Beautiful site, facilities and caravan. What a wonderful thing you are doing for families affected by an awful diagnosis”.

Parkdean Resorts announced they were delighted to be extending the offering into 2021.
