We recently raised more than £2,000 for our Charities of the Year.

Willerby employees voted earlier this year to continue to support Andy’s Man Club and Hull Animal Welfare Trust in 2021. They were both our chosen charities last year, but the disruption caused by COVID-19 restricted our fundraising opportunities.

Now, after deciding to back them both again, our team have got Willerby’s fundraising efforts off to a flying start this time around with a raffle in aid of men’s mental health awareness charity Andy’s Man Club.

The raffle was linked to activities around national Mental Health Awareness Week and included items donated by Willerby such as a champagne gift set, picnic rucksack, and garden games pack.

Our staff raised £1,174 for Andy’s Man Club through the raffle, which Willerby then match funded for Hull Animal Welfare Trust so both charities benefitted equally.

Andy’s Man Club works to raise awareness of mental health issues among men by encouraging them to talk and open up. It hopes to halve the number of suicides in men under 45 and is behind the #ITSOKTOTALK move.

Hull Animal Welfare Trust cares for and rehomes abandoned and unwanted animals in the area.

Susan Pender, our Head of People, who sits on the Charity and Gift-Giving Committee, said: “It’s great that after the difficulties we faced in 2020 because of the pandemic, we’ve already made such a positive start to our fundraising this year.

“Andy’s Man Club and Hull Animal Welfare Trust are both wonderful charities and we have a lot more plans to support them throughout the year.”
