Childhood memories by Esther George (Willerby’s Head of PR & Communications)

As someone who just loves to travel, my mind during this time has gone into overdrive with destinations I would love to travel to and also return to. It seems I am not alone, a recent survey of 2,000 UK adults by Hyundai found that we are typically spending an average of 20 minutes a day thinking about what they want to do after lockdown.

It also revealed that 73% of people feel that the government restrictions have made them appreciate the outdoors more, while 22% have actually dreamt about what they’ll do when life gets back to normal.

I understand that right now is a challenging time to plan future travels, but hopefully, it won’t be too long until we can get exploring the UK again.

My first trip after lockdown, when it's safe, is going to be amazing and I know exactly where I want to go; it is a place that holds many memories for myself and my family.

Wells-next-the-Sea is a beautiful seaside town on the North Norfolk Coast and it is a place that my family has been visiting for over 60 years, my great grandparents’ had a caravan there, as did my grandparents (they had a Willerby) and my parents - they actually met there, as my dad was a local.

Growing up as a child, memories of Wells were very happy ones. Chasing the harbour train, playing in the arcade and getting liver from my grandad’s shop to catch the biggest crab. Wells has a very special place in my heart and I am sure a lot of peoples, it evokes memories of trips both as an adult and a child.

We still have a family annual trip and I am still hopeful that this year will be no different. I can’t wait to walk through the pine woods with the dogs, go crabbing on the harbourside and spending some time with family and friends at the beach. There's nothing quite like the feel of the sun on your back and waves breaking over your feet; it’s a feeling that I have been craving.

We would love you to share holiday memories with us and the destinations that you just can’t wait to visit, email us at marketing@whh.co.uk.
