Celebrate the great outdoors

We know many of you have been tending to your own gardens and window boxes during this rather odd lockdown of ours. Seeing a patch of colour and a flash of green always puts a smile on our faces and creates a sense of harmony. We’re now looking forward to getting out and about (safely), hopefully in the next few weeks, if not months and seeing what some of our stately homes and famous gardens have been up to in our absence. But which is your favourite? Here are a few of ours.

Chatsworth House & Gardens, Derbyshire

We’re so excited to discover that you can visit their gardens now if you pre-book. Plus their picnic shop and farm shops are open too. The house and other restaurants remain closed for now. Find out more here.

Kew Gardens, London

Whilst it is still closed for now, lucky for us they still want us to enjoy their bountiful gardens and have created a virtual garden online. Check it out here.

Dunham Massey, Greater Manchester

Gardens full of Spring flowers and deer gambling across parklands. How could you not feel a moment of joy at this beautiful corner of Britain? According to the National Trust website it reopened on the 29th May with pre-booking only. Visit here for more information.

Corfe Castle, Dorset

Jaw dropping is how we would describe the beautiful Purbeck landscape. Expected to reopen in early June, if you’re not too far from this thousand year old castle and are safe to visit, then you are very lucky indeed! Check the website for reopening information.

Balmoral, Aberdeenshire

We know you can’t travel around in Scotland just yet, but let’s dream of when we can. The Balmoral estate is breathtaking. Formal gardens, a water garden and acres of ground just take your breath away. Keep your eyes peeled on the website for news.

National Botanic Garden of Wales, Carmarthenshire

Enjoy 568 acres of parkland in the most visited garden in Wales. But not yet!! The gardens aren’t open but you can plan your visit as their website is great. Check out the apothecary’s garden, full of healing herbs and the arboretum. We do hope that we will be able to enjoy the abundance of flora and fauna in this garden at some point this year.
