What to do with leftover Christmas food

16 December 2021

No matter how good Christmas dinner is, each year there’s always leftovers that you don’t know what to do with.

Do you just throw them away? Or just never have an idea of what you could do with them? We’ve been busy looking for the perfect ideas for you, so that you don’t have to this Christmas.

How about a Big Christmas Sandwich with a side of Festive Potato and Stuffing Hash or a Pigs in Blankets Carbonara, I’m sure we’ll have something you’ll love!

  1. Pigs in Blankets Carbonara
There should never be Pigs in Blankets left over from a Christmas dinner because you can never have enough on your plate! But if this festive season you end up with some left, pop them in a carbonara. It’s festive and a great way to change up your usual carbonara.

Take a look at this recipe we found on Olive Magazine.

  1. Big Christmas Sandwich
Imagine this, a turkey, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce sandwich, sounds amazing doesn’t it? And you’d be using up your festive leftovers. To take it up another level, serve with a side of Festive Potato and Stuffing Hash

  2. Festive Potato and Stuffing Hash
This would be the perfect side to go with your Big Christmas Sandwich. A mixture of leftover roast potatoes and stuffing with the addition of a bit of rosemary, parsley, garlic and cranberries for that bit of extra flavour.

We found this amazing recipe on the Tesco website. https://realfood.tesco.com/recipes/potato-and-stuffing-hash.html

  1. Cheese, potato and onion soup
This is a good way to use up the little bits of cheese left over from a cheese board. A delicious cheese, potato and onion soup served in a ciabatta roll. Make it a 3 course meal and enjoy this before tucking into a Christmas Sandwich and some Christmas Pudding.

You can find this recipe on the Tesco website.

  1. Maltesers Christmas Pudding
This chocolatey treat is a great alternative for those who don’t like Christmas Pudding, it also allows you to use up all the Maltesers and other chocolate you receive at Christmas. Perfect option for all the family, served as a dessert after enjoying the cheese, potato and onion soup and a big Christmas sandwich. It looks too good to not make it yourself!
