HOLIDAY HOME SPECIFICATION (EN 1647)

All of our standard models are built to exceed the requirements of EN 1647, the European industry-wide regulation for the manufacture of caravan holiday homes. This specification dictates that compliant holiday homes are suitable for use as temporary or seasonal accommodation on a holiday basis, and are not suitable as a permanent residence.

All Willerby and BK Bluebird branded models are certified by the National Caravan Council (NCC) who work with many partners (British and European Standards Organisations, Health & Safety Executive, Gas Safe, Fire Inspectorate etc.) to ensure that the industry’s products comply and are safe. Every model that has been approved is licensed to carry an NCC Approved Badge. NCC

All of our products offer superior levels of structural integrity and thermal dynamics, as well as lagged water pipes for extra protection during colder weather conditions, providing comfortable and practical holiday accommodation.

Residential Build Specification (BS 3632)

If you wish to reside in your holiday home all year round, then you must select the British Standard (BS 3632) optional upgrade.

This standard defines the manufacturing specification that makes our products suitable for year-round use, including safety, acoustic and thermal insulation, construction and durability.

Additional Features:

• High performance wall, roof and floor insulation
• Gas central heating with high-efficiency condensing combi-boiler (where not supplied as standard)
• Low 'E' Argon-filled PVCu double glazing
• Enhanced ventilation in bathrooms, shower rooms and WCs

Please refer to Park Licence and associated planning conditions when selecting Holiday Home (EN 1647), Residential (BS 3632), or European specification versions of any holiday home model. Please note that in order to comply with the Residential (BS 3632) living space requirements, certain models will be supplied with one single bed in the second and/or third bedroom, rather than twin beds. All models also require secondary external doors (i.e. Outlook doors, such as French doors or patio doors) to meet the required specification.

Due to the complex volumetric space calculations required to meet the specification, BS 3632 is only available on selected models:

NCC Structural Thermal and Energy Efficiency Rating Schemes

Holiday Home Specification (EN 1647)

The NCC Structural Thermal Rating Scheme is designed to give purchasers of Caravan Holiday Homes an indication of the likely thermal efficiency of the homes they are considering.

The scheme takes into consideration the insulation qualities of the fabric of the home and the amount of energy required to heat the air passing through the home.

The calculator generates a rating label giving an indication of the fabric and ventilation heat losses. Given that Caravan Holiday Homes are designed for holiday occupancy, they are given a rating that assumes that the home isn’t used during the coldest part of the year from the beginning of December until the end of February.

The ratings are based on the calculated seasonal heating load per square metre of floor area. A score of between 1 and 10 is awarded to each home based upon its thermal rating. The most thermally efficient homes are those with a high numerical rating. Scores at the upper end of the scale represent industry leading constructions.

The seasonal rating is provided, enables end-users to compare the typical energy consumption of homes that are of a similar plan area and that are only used in the warmer months.

Homes with features such as double glazing and enhanced insulation packages are likely to have a higher rating than those of more basic construction. Homes with larger floor areas will score more highly than those of identical construction with smaller footprints, care should therefore be taken to only directly compare homes of similar sizes.

Residential Specification (BS 3632)

The NCC Energy Efficiency Rating Scheme is designed to give purchasers of Residential Park Homes an indication of the likely energy consumption and Carbon Dioxide (CO²) emissions of the homes they are considering

The scheme takes into consideration the insulation qualities of the fabric of the home, the amount of energy required to heat the air passing through the home and the efficiency of the central heating and water heating equipment, as well as the energy consumed by the fixed lighting equipment.

Using Degree Day Data, the calculator generates a rating label giving an indication of the total energy consumption. 12-month residential occupancy is assumed.

In common with other energy efficiency rating scales, the most efficient homes are those with a rating at the green end of the scale whilst the least efficient will have a rating in the red zone.

The ratings are based on the calculated energy consumption per square metre of floor area. An estimate of the Carbon Dioxide emissions per square metre of floor area is also provided.

Homes with features such as gas central heating and double glazing are likely to have a higher rating than equivalent electrically heated ones because of the additional losses incurred by centrally generated and distributed electricity.

Homes that have a lower occupancy are likely to have a higher rating because of the reduced ventilation, lighting and domestic hot water.

Therma Max Logo

Further protection from the elements

Designed by Willerby to offer a more flexible thermal upgrade package, Therma-max is an option that provides the same insulation and window specification as BS 3632, but does not require the secondary external doors or the central heating system that are dictated by the residential specification. In addition Therma-max does not restrict the number of beds in the twin bedroom(s), is available on all models and it is not affected by the Park Licence conditions.

All Willerby and BK Bluebird holiday homes are built in accordance with British Standard Holiday Home specification (EN 1647) or Residential Specification (BS 3632), and are certified by the National Caravan Council (NCC).

As well as undergoing a full Risk Assessment during the design process; the following safety equipment and features are fitted as standard in all our holiday homes:

All our holiday homes are fitted as standard with Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors. These constantly monitor CO levels, providing early warning of the gas well before danger levels are reached, giving you total peace of mind.
